Q. I bought a 42" Vizio 1080P LCD HDTV for $750 about a year and a half ago with a 2 year service plan. The TV fell off the stand and broke the screen and LCD display. Apparently the damn 2 year service plan won't cover falls even though the employee told me it would. (If I would've known that I wouldn't have bought the service plan.) Anyway, I can't see anything on the screen except for the huge spots from the damaged LCD. I hear it's usually cheaper to buy a new TV than to fix them but I was just wondering how much it would cost anyway, just in case. (You never know until you ask!) Any information you guys can give would be very helpful.
A. Currently, you can get a Vizio'' 1080 LCD HDTV with 3D for as low as $523 at amazon. This is an extremely great deal for a TV with 3D technology as well as two 3D glasses also comes with it. This TV also has built in Wi-Fi. I personally think its better if you buy a new TV rather than fixing it as the repair cost might be able to get you even a newer version of the HDTV you are fixing.

How do I get the surround sound to go on my TV?
Q. I ave a Magnavox 42" LCD HDTV with Dolby surround sound built in.We got a Phillips DVD progressive scan home system with speakers. We can only get the DVD and radio to work on the surround sound but not the TV.We do not have the HD cables if that matters.Basic cable is on it.
A. You can do one of two things. If I'm understanding you correctly, you have a dvd player which is built in to the main reciever on your home theater unit. On these units they have very few external inputs. Meaning that the ability for them to run other sources is quite limited. If it has a AUX or TV input on the back you can run a set of audio cables from the audio OUT on the back of your TV to either one of these inputs. You would then need to read your Tv's manual to find out how to enable the AUDIO OUT jacks. You will not get true surround sound as you will not be running a digital source. The phillips unit will process the signal into Dolby Prologic, which is simulated surround sound. For true surround sound, you wil need an HD soure of some kind, and a new home theater reciever. Hope this helps.
