Q. anyone heard of this tv, HDTV Tuner Built In,
PC Monitor compatible with HDMI & DVI Input
Panel: 26" ATSC LCD HD TV Monitor
what does this all mean, still only picks up all anolog with direct tv box which is digital - trying to learn all this
SORRY, the box on back says digital but I donot believe it is an hd receiver, I got it from landlord to use with my tv, i believe i will need a new box, correct ? What about tivo box would that work instead or both, i am so new sorry f/ being ignorant with this stuff, info so far very helpful. thanks.

A. If you are only seeing analog on DirecTV it is because you need to get a DirecTV HD receiver and connect it to this TV with a HDMI cable or with a component cable set (red, green, blue RCA to RCA cables) and a audio cable set (white and red RCA cables) from the output of the DirecTV HD receiver to the corresponding HDMI input or aforementioned RCA connections which are inputs on the HDTV.

If you have the DirecTV HDTV box then you need to make the connection change noted above.

What is the best 26" LCD HDTV?

Q. I'm on a budget of around 500-600 dollars so don't want to spend anymore than that. I had taken a look at a Westinghouse at Best Buy since I have a 22" WS monitor from them and love it, but when I asked them to plug in a dvd player to it, I can hardly hear the sound, is that normal also? Don't really want or need a 32" tv too.
When I mentioned I can hardly hear the sound, that was only after he plugged in the dvd player, once he swtiched back to TV without changing the volume, it was really loud. Anyone know why that is, so that if I get that TV, it won't happen to me?
And are there any specific examples of TV's to get with links and such that are within my budgets? I like quality in my picture, but I care about sound too.

A. For that type of budget, you should be able to get a nice 26" TV online. Check out the Samsung LN26A450 or Sony KDL26M4000.

Westinghouse is a budget brand, you'll get a decent TV but not the best.

How do I attach my Dell Laptop to my Polaroid LCD HDTV?

Q. I have a Dell Latitude D820 laptop and recently just purchased a Polaroid 26" LCD HDTV. I was told at circuit city that I would be able to hook up my laptop to the tv monitor without having to purchase any additional attachments. But from observing the cords that came with the tv and those that I have with my laptop it doesnt seem possible. Anyone know how to hook it up?

A. Most likely you will have an s-video or composite(rca) output from your laptop. Youll need to buy the cable to run from the laptop to the tv.

Q. I just bought a 26" sharp lcd hdtv. The picture is fine, but the speakers are very disappointing. the tv does have a digital output audio. what kind of external speakers/woofers are compatible with this tv? what components will be needed? i reckon a conventional computer speaker wouldn't work.

A. In order to use the digital audio output, you'll need a Dolby receiver, which means you'll need a full-blown Home Theater kit. You can get these relatively cheaply these days, but you get what you pay for. If the TV is a small one for a bedroom, you might do better to take the ANALOG audio output and run that into a set of PC speakers with subwoofer.

How can i get my computer to look better on my tv?

Q. My Computer is a Dell Dimension 4600. It runs on Windows XP professional SP3. It has a nvidia 128 mb video card. It is connected to my Panasonic 26" LCD HDTV with a DVI to HDMI cable. On my screen there is shadows and i want to know how i could make it look better. At the mac store the very large computers look very sharp on the big monitors. How can i make my computer look sharper?

A. You need to make sure that the resolution you have the computer set to is as close as possible to the native resolution of the LCD TV.

On a 26" HDTV, this resolution is usually 1366 x 768, but you should check the specs of the TV to find out for sure.

Q. Just purchased a Samsung 26 " LCD HDTV for my dorm and while it works relatively well with video games, I couldn't help but notice that it seemed to be getting blurry from time to time. Now I've heard component cables were the way to go, but I've also heard swell things about using a HDMI cable to hook up the PS2. So my question is which one should I use? Would the difference between the two be noticeable? And could I still play in progressive scan using an HDMI cable?

A. The PS2 does not have an HDMI port because it's not high def. The optimum resolution for PS2 is only 480p. Component cable will not do much if the signal source isn't high def. So, you can settle for the standard cable that came with your PS2.

How do I connect my XPS 15 to my VIZIO MV260VA 26" RazorLED LCD HDTV via HDMI?

Q. I just received my VIZIO MV260VA 26" RazorLED LCD HDTV today, and unplugged everything before I connected the HDTV to my laptop via HDMI.

I tried just about half of things to be able to get my laptop to connect to the HDTV, but the tv still says, "No Signal."

A. you dont need to invest in to it so soon. xbox 360 attached to hdtv via component input shows great picture. hddvd and blueray are two new upcoming formats but still a lot of controversy going on now. so better wait and enjoy normal dvds on 360 via component cable and relax.
