LCD or PLASMA 37 to 42 inches Television?
Q. Will be buying new HDTV. Doing Research. Looking for Quality in combination with good price. Am not familiar with the new Technology and it's different definitions, so if you can help me, I'd appreciate it. What about the non-brand names, they are less, but do they measure up?? Plasma or LCD.??? What are the pitfalls of this new technology? Thanks

A. Well first of all, the smallest plasmas are 42 inches so if you go smaller you will have to go LCD.

LCD -
pros ... no image burn in, lower power consumption, lighter in weight so wall mounting is easier.
cons ... image lag, smaller viewing angle, black levels are not good.

Plasma
pros ... no image lag, wide viewing angle, blacker blacks
cons ... static images can burn in over time, power consumption is high, if mounting on the wall they are heavy, they run HOT

I personally would stay away from non name brand units. Why? Because I believe it will be harder to find replacement/repair parts for them.

Westinghouse 46" Class LED-LCD 1080p 120Hz vs VIZIO 42" Class LCD 1080p 120Hz HDTV?

Q. Westinghouse 46" Class LED-LCD 1080p 120Hz vs VIZIO 42" Class LCD 1080p 120Hz HDTV

what one will u choose? if u had the choice

A. LED is the way to go,
its thinner and has better light distribution behind the panel.

Best overall LCD/LED HDTV?
Q. I am gonna buy an HDTV soon and I was wondering whats the best overall HDTV, looking for 1080p and no lower then 120htz of refresh rate. I wanted a 37-42 inch, im stuck between Sony, Samsung, and Vizio. I need some comparisons and which one i can get everything I want for the best price. Thank yu!

A. LG is the best. I do like Vizio too, but they tune their TV's to have the best picture, but with that high tuning, they won't last as long. I recently bought an LG 1080p, and I absolutely love it! I think LG will give you the best price and will last the longest.

What is the best LCD television for gaming, and under $300?

Q. preferably 26 to 32 inches

A. Hi Nate P,
Toshiba 26C100U 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Black Gloss) is really good.
Photo Frame capability allows this HDTV to act as both a TV and a digita
l photo frame. You can showcase your favorite memories as a clear, crisp slide
show on the high-resolution television screen--all controlled with just the TV remote.
Gaming Mode takes the gaming experience to a new level by reducing game
control delay, thus giving the player improved reaction time and a more realistic
playing experience. This is great when used with popular gaming consoles,
or with PC games using the TVs PC Input. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038JEDAI?ie=UTF8&tag=digitsy-post3-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0038JEDAI

Projector or LCD HDTV? for games, monitor, television UNDER:$400?
Q. I am wondering if i should get a LCD HDTV or a Projector non HD since there too expensive.
BUDGET:under $400

I would get the LCD off of Craigslist, amazon,or a local chainstore. Most likely off of amazon or craigslist

And the Projector off Craigslist or Ebay.

I would be useing One of the 2 depending on what i get for Computer games and Internet,Xbox 360,and as a TV that I would use often everyday. Lets say 12 hours a day to be on the safe side. I think the only things that i would use the HD for is My XBOX 360 or PS3 and Maybe my computer if i get a new VIDEO CARD

I would like to know the PROS VS CONS on haveing a LCD HDTV VS a REGULER PROJECTOR (no HD). Assume i would be getting both of them used.

What should i loook for in a used projector? are they are to repair the projector? Should i get some paint or a screen. I heard there is paint that i could paint on the wall that is better then a screen?

A. get a 32 inch samsung LCD or Panasonic LCD both 1080p you wont be dissapointed but idk i tried my ps3 on my friends Sony Bravia 1080p 32 inch and only 300 bucks in best buy and it looked amazing

5.0 out of 5 stars Good device for good price, April 3, 2009
By Heero (Mansfield, TX USA)
I just received this television. My first impression is great. I've been investigating diffrent brands and different models of LCD TV's for a while. Here is the conclusion I reached and the reasons for purchasing this TV:

* Sony has great models for over $2500. They have great picture but not great enough to compensate for the couple of thousand extra dollars paid. I saw 46XBR6 and 46V5100 next to each other in BB and did not see a significant difference except the price.
* Samsungs have great LCD TVs. But glossy screen would not work for me at all. I have a bright living room where my TV is located. So, if you will have your TV in a bright room, you probably would like to avoid glossy screens like Samsung has. It really reflects a lot almost like a mirror. This was a big deal for me.

Now, my experice with KDL46V5100 is as follows:
It has great picture quality. I did not expect it to be so good at even SD. It is very easy to use. We plugged the TV and started to use it right away. Even user's manual is just a few pages. Before buying the TV I paid extra attention to the wide angle performance. This TV has about the same view from front and from sides: no changes in color or image quality with angle that I recognized.

I am extremely satisfied with the Amazon delivery. They brought the TV, unpacked it and installed the TV on the stand.

Good TV for good price and good service from Amazon...

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT TV, May 19, 2009
By John Difebbo "Flightsim-USAF" (Jacksonville, AR)
(REAL NAME)
I recently purchased the Sony Bravia 46V5100, and wow is all i can say. This is my first HD anything purchase, although i did a ton of research for over a year, im glad i chose this Sony. I also promptly purchased the playstation 3 for the games and blu-ray, along with the HD package from the cable company, and it blows me away. The picture never blurs or anything like that, im a huge NASCAR fan and there is no blurring, no skipping and you never miss a bit of the action, and of course its the fastest sport on TV. With all the HDMI inputs, i dont know what else i can put in there to make it better, theres more than enough room for all the accessories. The screen is what made the difference for me between this Sony and the Samsung of the equivilant. The screen is not as glossy as the samsung, although the bezel is as shiny as the rest, you hardly notice it. The white glove delivery was great, i was notified of every step of the journey for my TV, the delivery guys unloaded it, ops checked it and explained some of the features. The only problem was a "feature" that came with the TV that darkens the screen during dark scenes on a movie or TV show, this problem has been fixed by a software update, found on the Sony support web site. its a very easy fix, just requiring an USB memory stick, or if you dont have one the Sony people will send you one. The update just takes minutes and makes a world of difference. I was a bit nervous about buying a TV online, but i went and checked it out at best buy, and it was about $400 less at amazon than at best buy, so my decision was made for me. Over all its a great tv, and a great price for the size of the TV. Thanks

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this one, not the Samsung!, April 11, 2009
By L. Silver "silver212" (nyc)
(REAL NAME)
I researched 46 inch lcd tv's for months, and every site recommended the Samsung 550, so I bought it. I'm not a techie, so I'll just say this: the speakers on all Samsungs are on the bottom of the set, so unless you know how to hook it up to an external sound system, every show will sound like you're inside a tin can with the lid closed. I sent it back and got the Sony, which is a VAST improvement; the speakers are on the front of the set, where they belong. The picture is sharp, colors saturated and beautiful, it's easy to navigate. It's a great TV. Unlike the Samsung, which is incredibly shiny and reflective, the Sony even looks great in my living room. I love it!

What is the best 1080P LCD 46-52 inch TV in the $900-$1300 range?
Q. What is the best brand for a 1080P LCD TV around 46-52 inches between 1000and 1300?

Right now on reputable sites there are Sonys, LG's, Toshibas, Magnavox and a Samsung at the very upper end of that range (BJs.com) .... I have a feeling Magnavox is crap..but a 47 inch 1080P can be had at Target for about $900 after 10% off for opening a credit card before I then pay it off in cash at the service desk.
Thanks

Please keep in mind.. I understand at this price range and size..that 60HZ is the norm. I am going for size.
I am using the TV for broadcasts and movies mostly. I have not looked at any 720 sets. There is a 46inch Samsung at bjs. for about 1170 shipped.
An LG 1080P at Tigerdirect for about 1100 shipped.. Those are the two I am really Eyeballing more recently.

As I understand it,plasma has a limited lifetime.. Longevity is not good.. correct?

A. From the brands you are looking at, the best one is the Sumsang. Let's back up, what are you using the tv for? Fact 1: you won't be able to tell the difference between 720 vs 1080P on screen size below 50" Facts : LCD blurs in fast action sports. Fact 3: Only Blue ray movies are in 1080P program. Fact 4: tv program are 720P. Fact 5: Plasma is better suited at home for movies and sports. If you want the biggest screen for your money I recommend a plasma tv, for less than $1300 you get a 50" 1080P at Costco, along with an additional year of factory warranty at no extra cost and a 90 day return policy. You have to pay for one year membership of $45, if you buy an extra year of warranty it will cost you more than $45. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read a comprehensive review of LCD and Plasma TV. Stay with name brands like Panasonic, Sumsang, Pioneer for the best service support,
I have used Panasonic and Pioneer service support and they are very good. Hope this helps and good luck what ever you decide on getting.

Looking for customer reviews for Sharp AQUOS LC46BD80U 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV?

Q. Where can I find reviews and opinions online for Sharp AQUOS LC46BD80U 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

A. Opened in 2006, the Sharp LCD television plant in Kameyama, Japan, includes one of the world's largest roof-mounted solar electricity installations. All Sharp factories achieved green status according to international recommendations that combine economic efficiency, social-mindedness and environmental conservation.

At the factories, cogeneration and photovoltaic power generation systems supply approximately one-third of the total energy used. Combined with an on-site fuel cell system that converts energy without combustion, Sharp has reduced CO2 emissions by 40 percent per year. It's Sharp's goal that by 2010, the emissions avoided through the use of Sharp's energy-creating and energy-saving products worldwide will equal their annual global emissions.

All Sharp products are designed and manufactured to virtually eliminate lead, mercury and cadmium.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?
HDTV Size chart
With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

* Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
* Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Whats the best kind of HDTVs?
Q. Im looking for a good HDTV one good for watching tv an playing games. Priced from $500 to $2,000.

A. Home Theater Magazine named the Panasonic Plasma tv VT series as the best tv for 2010. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tv, along with the pro and con of each technology. You will notice that Panasonic has more Plasma tv being recommended than any tv from other manufacturer. If you read yahoo questions, you will notice that 95% of tv problems come from LCD tv and 95% of those are the bargain price tv. Plasma tv starts at 42" to 150". If you decide on an LCD then, I would recommend either Panasonic or Samsung. Hope this will help you out.

samsung hdtv un46C, un46D, or UN46E?

Q. What's the difference between the C, D, and E? All I want is sick picture and sound. I don't care for extra features this TV will simply be used to play videogames and watch a movie every now and then

A. A quick explanation of the Samsung serial numbers:

Part 1, the display technology: UN = LED, LN = LCD, PN = plasma
Part 2, the size: easy to recognize, it's 46-inch
Part 3, the series: D6000, ES8000, C7000, loads of variations. The C series are from 2010, D is from 2011, E(S) is from 2012. The number indicates the specs/features.

A few examples: UN46Cxxxx is a 46-inch LED screen from 2010, a PN55Dxxxx is a 55-inch plasma from 2011. A UN55D7000 has the same features as a UN46D7000, just a bigger screen.

Over the last years, image quality improved but not as fast as new fancy features were added. If you don't need gesture control, internet access, smart TV features and apps, a HDTV from 2010 would be perfectly fine, the irony is that most of them are more expensive now that the new 2012 ones. The UN46C6500 for example costs about $1.4k, the UN46ES6500 slightly more than $1k.

Bottom line: My recommendation would be the UN46EH6000. No 3D, no unneeded features, but 240Hz refresh rate, decent image quality, 2x HDMI, 1x USB, Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby Pulse, barely more than $800 for a perfect "basic" HDTV. Sick sound? All modern flatscreen HDTVs have built-in 10-20 watt speakers. That's far from perfect, no matter what manufacturer you look at, these thin little speakers can't do wonders. Some sort of home theatre kit is definitely recommended for all audiophiles.

Any one have a Samsung 32" LED HDTV UN32D400?
Q. What's ur opinion on it? What pros and cons do you have. Do u like it. I'm thinking on getting one.

A. The un324000 is an entry level set from 2011.the new E or Eh for lcd/led series took it's place, and has alot more features than 2011,samsung revamped the whole line as the switch to Oled is coming.TheD 4 series is the lowest of the line but a good tv if you get a good price "go for it" otherwise I would look at the EH4series and up.Even the low end has features that the better sets last year had.I have a 4300 at work basically same tv and its been great for a year and a half.

LCD HDTV under $1000?

Q. I'm looking for a 30" (or so) LCD HDTV under $800 or if more expensive at least under $1000.
where should i buy, or be looking?

A. I would recommend the Toshiba 32" REGZA Black HD LCD TV. It will cost about a $100 or a little less and perhaps you might be able to find it cheaper. There is also a 26" model too which is of course cheaper.

The thing to look for in these TV's is the contrast ratio which means the higher the ratio, the better color contrast you will see. Another good thing to have is more HDMI inputs. This Toshiba model has 3. So you can hook up a cable/satellite box, video game, and blu-ray or HD-DVD player directly to the TV.

Where you go to buy it depends on where you live. I live in Chicago so Abt Electronics and Fry's Electronics are the best. Stores with a lot of different brands set up together are great places to check out which ones have the best pictures and are withing your price range. Also remember that cables connecting your TV to DVD players, game systems, etc. are expensive too. I would think about getting the warranty and of course you can price shop those as well.

Once you decide on what brand you want, use Google Product search to find who is selling it and for how much. I would stay away from generic/store brands and also LG because many of their products are defective. Best Buy always pushes that crap so don't listen to their lies when they say it is a good brand. Besides Toshiba, I also like the Philips, Samsung, Panasonic, and of course Sony although those are more expensive.

Good luck!

Gaming on a 26" lcd hdtv...?

Q. ...Can you still enjoy playing XBOX360 HD games on a 26" lcd hdtv? I heard that "true HD" should be a hdtv 32" or larger...

A. Big Tvs are good but too big then you get pixelation. We play our ps3 on a 26 inch and its actually clearer than our 60 inch from my point of view.

Samsung 64inch plasma vs samsung 60inch LED TV?

Q. Cant decide on which TV to get:

http://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-64-series-8-full-hd-plasma-tv.html
Or
http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/cannington/Samsung_60%22_152cm_full_HD_LED_LCD_100Hz_3D_TV_UA60ES6500M

Will be the main family TV in a 60 square meter room with quite a bit of direct sunlight into the room, it will also inside an alcove.

We watch a lot of sports (soccer, F1, AFL and basketball mainly), movies and standard televison.

The plasma is a series 8 model which is the 2012 model while the LED is the 2011 model.

Please help
Cheers
Thanks

We currently sit about 3.5/4 meters away depending if the chairs are reclined so hopefully its just far enough.
Also which would have the better picture quality?
With blinds shut or at night would the plasma be a better choice?

A. A Display
First, youll need a 3D-ready displaywhether its a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession.

A Source
Your display may be ready for 3D playback, but youll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system.

3D Content
3D contentthe actual entertainment, in other wordswill be played back using the source mentioned above, whether its a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game.

3D Glasses
For now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered active shutter glasses, others polarized passive glasses. Youll need one pair per viewer, and theyll have to be compatible with your display, whether theyre the same brand, or a pair of universal glasses designed to work across brands.

HDMI Cable
To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, youll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality.

Which is better LG or Samsung Plasma for 2012 Models?
Q. I decided to buy entry level 50" Plasma TV, and please don't say just buy LED because it's out of my budget and i see that the colors of Plasma is good for me. i found these 2 models: Samsung PS51E450 and LG 50PA4500. so which is better and which has the best contrast, brightness and vibrant colors LG or Samsung

PS: My local store has only these two 50" Plasmas and i saw the LG picture quality but unfortunately the Samsung isn't in the Showroom and that's why I'm asking this question.

A. LG 42LM6200 42-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV is the best, was a Samsung fan and then far, referable to the price for the LG quality I will straight off actuate to LG. Heavy it works in 240V equally substantially then can pack with me if I run out of US. UPDATE: The skype app is non usable for this TV until lg release a novel Skype camera

I would like to buy a 42-47 inches 3D tv?

Q. I don't know much about led, LCD or plasma. I just want have great 3d experience and it should have good picture quality. Can anyone suggest which tv should I buy?

Or should I wait till 2013 to buy one..?
P.s. I don't care about Internet and other fancy stuff

A. 3D technology has not been a big hit in the electronic industry. At this time there are only around 130 titles available in 3D blu ray disc movies and they are mainly animated movies from disney. Keep in mind that to watch in 3D you will need the following: 3D HDTV, 3D blu ray disc player ot a game console, 3D blu ray disc movie or 3D video game and 3D glasses. You also have to sit in front of the tv to get the 3D effect. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on 3D HDTV, along with the pro and con of each technology. Panasonic Plasma is the only Plasma tv they recommend. They also have more pllasma tv being recommended than any type of tv from other manufacturer. Hope this will help you out.

Will the release of oled and 4k drop the price of regular tvs?
Q. hello, i was wondering if anyone in the tv sales or home theatre communities thought that with the release of oled (organic light emiting diode) or 4k resolution tvs sometime in 2013, that the price of tvs that aren't oled or 4k will drop much like standard definition tvs dropped in price when high def came out? In case your wondering im looking at the price of a Panasonic Viera Tcp50st30. THANK YOU

A. Yes the prices will go down, but not all of a sudden. Like all other electronics, the prices are constantly going down. Even when HDTVs came out, the prices on standard television didn't dropped overnight. Also, OLEDs TVs and 4k TVs are still a novelty, with only very pricey model are available to the general public. It will take 2-3 years to become mainstream and to challenge the plasma/lcd/led prices.

This is especially true if you want to buy a very specific model, like your case. If you are willing to wait that model would be when the new models will come out (so the stores need to sell their old stock). This is usually in the February-April time frame.

LCD? LED? HDTV? What does all this mean?

Q. I'm about to buy a new TV since mine just went out. And since i'm about to be spending about a grand on a TV i'd like to get my moneys worth.. But their is all this new stuff.. What does all of it mean? Any suggestions? I'm wanting a Samsung 46" but LCD? LED? what..

A. Flat screen TV's are based on LCD technology (liquid crystal display). Plasma (PDP) is a different technology with similar results. LED means light emitting diode and is the basis of how your remote control and TV communicate. It's also an emerging display technology that uses less juice than LCD or plasma but they are still pricey, though the display will likely last far longer than its competition. As far as picking a TV goes, a big issue to consider is with inputs, outputs, and filters that will enhance the usability of your new HDTV. The more features you select, the more backwards compatibility you will have (ability to plug in your old NES or VCR). The overall performance also relies on advanced features. So basic guidelines for shopping would be to get a brand name TV, meaning a large and successful brand like Sony, Samsung, get the picture? As far LCD or plasma, that will depend on your viewing environment: a dark, cinematic setting will probably do well with plasma, and normal living room setting, you'll want the LCD. On a personal note, take your grand, do something GOOD with it (charity or a gift for your mom), and don't let the size of your TV symbolize how big a man you are. :-)

what is the differences between a LCD HDTV AND A LED HDTV?
Q. I was told that the shiny screen would not be good if I have lots of windows as it causes more reflections, is this true?

A. The LED that are out now such as the Samsung 6000 series television are still LCD tvs. The panel is an LCD panel and is almost exactly the same as the Samsung 650 series lcd. The major difference is that the backlight is different. The backlight in a standard lcd is a flourescant type of backlight while in a LED it uses Light Emitted Diodes to enhance the picture. An LED will have a higher contrast ratio (black to white level in turn effects colors) than a standard LCD.

is an lcd hdtv really worth buying?

Q. i am planning on buying an hdtv for my family but we already have a tv. a regular basic tv. we have a ps3, wii, and we have hd channels. out of all honesty is buying a hdtv really worth spending money on it even though i have a tv that is working just fine? is spending a few hundred dollars really worth better picture?

A. Honestly, I bought an HD TV a couple years ago when they were like four or five times more expensive and the technology was weaker than it is now. I was also skeptical about it, but to be perfectly honest, after having watched HD television for all this time, I simply cannot go back to regular TV.

The hi def channels are so pleasing to the eye that it makes a world of a difference. Watching sporting events like football is fantasticI literally can't watch sporting events on regular TV anymore. I'm not a big gamer anymore, but I'm sure that it'll make the gaming experience that much better.

I was looking at the current prices of HD LCD TVs recently and they have come down so much that I would certainly go with an HD TV. It really makes a huge difference so long as you have HD channels coming in or HD/Blue Ray DVDs that you're using.

Right now, literally, the HD TV I purchased in 2006 for over $2,500 presently costs $829 and is of better quality with the technical improvements.

Do I need to buy HDMI cables if I buy a LCD HDTV?
Q. I am planning on getting a Samsung 40" 1080p, the model is LN40B640. But I am wondering if I need HDMI cables. They are very expensive, well the Monster brand which start at over $60. I am not familiar with HDMI, or HD electronics in general. I only plan on connecting a Xbox 360 to the tv, and a Blu Ray player eventually. No home theater system. Any help with what HDMI is for and which are good for the money will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

A. Okay here comes your perfect answer. So you know i am very knowledgeable about everything there is to know about LCD, Plasma, PS3, Xbox, Bluray, surround sound ect. so take what im telling you as fact. I have literaly set up DOZENS of surround sound lcd bluray ps3 xbox sytems in peoples houses and know how they work from top to bottom.

Answer: not necissarily.

HDMI cables are designed to handle all current forms of HD signal including 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. But they also handle "HD Audio" or true surround sound signal which includes DTS, Dolby prologic, Dolby Digital 5.1 and 7.1 audio. The nice thing about HDMI is its all in one cable.

Your xbox (tho i am not conclusively sure about the elite) comes with cables to send video and audio signal to your TV. You have your STANDARD DEFINITION CALBES witch is the yellow (video in 480i) cable, aswell as a red and white which designate left and right channel stereo only audio. this is not HD. But they also, on the same wire, come with "COMPONENT VIDEO" THIS IS THE SAME EXACT THING AS AN HDMI CABLE BUT IN THREE WIRES!. Component has a green, blue, and red cable splitting a video signal into 3 specific forms, which are then combined in the tv as HD signal. these cables will handle 1080p.

If you use component you will still have to use the red and the white for your audio. you will NOT use the yellow anymore.

The difference between component and HDMI is wire control (less wires) if you get into deep specifics HDMI can also be used for one device to control another. But in your case its not, nor would you have a need to do so. Also as i said HDMI carries HD audio, the white and red sterio wires do not, but that does not matter in your case for you do not have a surround sound speaker system able to decode and designate speaker channels for surround sound audio.

Advice: You could use either, i use HDMI
Go to newegg.com and buy your HDMI cable from there for $10 or less
Never buy a cable less than 6' (foot) long for you WILL NOT have enough. trust me
You should be able to find the cable you need for about $6
After you hook every thing up and see a picture on the TV you are STILL NOT GETTING HD PICTURE
You have to tell your xbox to send 1080p to your television only!!!!!
Go to system settings in your xbox, then video settings and set the resolution to 1080p
to make sure that is is working correctly, press display, or info on your TV'S! remote, and it will tell you what signal is being supplied to the TV (720p, 1080i 0r 1080p)
you also have to tell the xbox what cables you wish to run signal through, but you should come to that step anyways while in video settings.
ALSO EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, I BELIEVE XBOX REQUIRES A SPECIAL CABLE DESIGNED FOR THE THE XBOX ONLY THAT HAS HDMI ON ONE END (FOR THE TV) AND THE XBOX HOOKUP AT THE OTHER TO HOOK TO YOUR XBOX. THERE IS ALSO A SWITCH ON THE XBOX CABLE ITSELF THAT SAYS HDTV WHICH NEEDS TO BE SWITCHED ON IF USING 'COMPONENT HOOKUP RED, GREEN, BLUE CABLES) for HD picture

I have xbox ps3, HD DVD, 42" flat LCD, 1,800 watt surround sound 7.1 with three subwoofers and 5 extra speakers wired into it. It all runs perfectly and amazingly, and shakes the earth. I use component for my xbox, and HDMI for my ps3 which has a blu-ray built in. Best advice, get a ps3, so much better that xbox, and you cant beet the price now adays.

SUPER TIP!!!!! : go to half.com for all bluray movies, games, and even consoles (game systems) FRACTION OF THE PRICE! NEW!!!! or slightly used (all used games ive gotten are in FLAWLESS CONDITION! and i have 20 all from that site)

most of the answers here are partially right, or wrong. i promise you, this is totally correct. Best Buy guys call me when they have a problem. GOOD LUCK friend, you will love it. Enjoy, and have a friend with you in you are unsure on how to do everything, refer to this as a guide.

Best,
Riddick-

Is VIZIO a good brand of LCD HDTV?

Q. I have $1500 budget to buy an HDTV, I prefer LCD 1020. I cannot decide which brand to choose.. SONY VIZIO or SAMSUNG?? Psl help me decide. Im looking for 40 in size.

A. Vizio is a third-tier brand. Parts are shipped from China made by other companies and they are assembled in LA and sold as 'house brands' in discount stores.

There is no repair service, quality on same model units varies a lot, etc.

The low prices ARE attractive but if it breaks - plan on tossing it and buying another.

Just below your post is another user who suddenly has lost video after leaving her Vizio on for 8 hours by accident.

While I am not a fan of service contracts - it might be a wise invesment for Vizio, Lutron, Dynex, Westinghouse, Robi, etc. brands.

what brand of lcd hdtv has the best repair history?
Q. I'm looking to buy a 52 inch LCD TV. What brand is most reliable? Also, what accessories do I need? Some people recommend the UPS instead of the expensive power surge protector.

A. Don't go by a single brand for your decision. You should look at specific models. Every brand makes stronger and weaker models. You want to get a good middle to high end model to best ensure you're getting the best parts.

All of the big name brands are going to be fairly comparable though reliability wise. Look to Panasonic (if you consider Plasma), Samsung, Sony, and LG. I think a set from any of those will serve you well from day of purchase until you're ready to buy again.

You likely want an HDMI cable, or two. Stick with no-name, generic brands. There are loads of consumer reports that have show the generic brands provide 100% equal quality as the big name, expensive options. Look to computer stores or online at like amazon.com, monoprice.com, bluejeanscable.com, etc. for good cheap cables. There's no need to spend more than $15 on a cable unless you're buying something of extreme length.

A UPS is handy to have sure, but we're not talking about needing to save documents here. UPS is good for a computer so the machine doesn't just turn off in a power outage. On your TV you just want to be worried about surge, so a good protector there is good enough really. Unless maybe the electricity in your area is really bad, in which case a UPS that also conditions the electricity might well be worth the investment.

What are some WiFi built in tv these days? 2011 2010 models?
Q. main goal is to watch NetFlix & hate to run a cable to the TV.

thanks guys !

A. I don't know that there are any wi-fi TVs available for less than 5 grand right now, but you could get an internet connectable Samsung HDTV then get the wi-fi adaptor.

Internet connectable Samsung tvs...
(adaptor only works with Samsung 630 series LCD HDTVs, 650 series plasma HDTVs, 6000 series LED HDTVs and higher)

What HDTV and Xbox 360?

Q. What is the best HDTV for my Xbox 360. I'm looking for 27 to 34 inches range and the best for gaming and hopefully not so expensive.

A. Like stated before, best is generally an opinion. However there are televisions that are better than others.

I suggest one of these.
SONY
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+BRAVIA+32%22+Class+/+1080p+/+60Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9761129.p?id=1218168619794&skuId=9761129
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+BRAVIA+32%22+Class+/+720p+/+60Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9761077.p?id=1218168616090&skuId=9761077

As well I have heard good things of LG lately, but have never seen one.

Heres my reasoning...
First off, you will need an HDMI port, and a cable. Many HDTV's will also have "gaming" setting included. Do not be fooled by these however, this does not mean that they are better than others.

There are a few different kind of tv's to look at. Plasma, LCD, and LED. Well and OLED, but those are extremely expensive.

Plasma is generaly referred to as the best screen for sports. But is prone to burn in, and is quite expensive.

Flourescent backlit LCD televsions are the cheapest. This is because of how they operate. However because of this, the contrast is not as good. This means that you wont get very dark blacks when there are bright whites on the screen.

LED televisions dont technically exsist. They are referred to as LED but they are actually LCD LED televisions. These are LCD displays that are backlit with LED's. This means a better contrast, along with a smaller size, but a higher price tag.

As far as size, I found that the smaller the display the better it looks. I have a 32 inch westinghouse. While it is not horrible, it is nowhere near the best. When I moved to college I got a 19 inch or so SYLVANIA display. It looks amazing for games. So keep this in mind. They are also cheaper!

If you are sold on the size of 27 - 34, look for a 1080p tv. However this is not extremely necessary, as well I will personally state that the difference between HDMI and COMPONENT really isnt that large. I have used both. And compared both. When you are playing a game, this slight graphic difference is rarely noticable at all!

I suggest buying a television in person. The best thing to do is look at the contrast. If they images they are showing on the screen do not include very dark blacks and very light whites at the same time, they are doing this to make them look better. Youll know what im talking about when you see a television that does not deal with this well. The black looks more like varying shades of gray blocks...

what is the best TV to buy?
Q.

A. I recommend you go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs, along with the pro and con of each technology. You will notice that Panasonic dominates the list of recommended tv with a Plasma tv. In 2010 they named the Panasonic Plasma tv model VT25 as the best tv. If you read yahoo questions, you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from LCD/LED tv and 95% of those are the bargain price tv. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.

Best LCD HDTV 50+ TV?

Q.

A. Toshiba 22AV615DB 22-inch Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV is the best lcd tv.

Easy to set up on stand (just 0ne click, no screws to mess about with)and set up the Freeview. Bought this for my bedroom and is just the right size. Nice epg and remote. Picture and sound quality excellent, very pleased with this TV. A terrific price for a proper branded TV.Sony/Panasonic, which on such a small TV is not worth it anyway, well not for the extra £[]+ they were asking. All in all this Toshiba is a great widescreen TV at a great price. Go for it !

i want a cheap 50 inch plus lcd or led hdtv whats the best one include model number please?
Q.

A. You could get a real cheap 50 inch plus lcd TV these days. The reason why is that the there's heavy competition among the different brands. But from my experience I would recommend Panasonic when it comes to LCD. There's also Samsung and LG, but it often seems like Panasonic is one step ahead, when it comes to picture-quality.

If you want the most modern for the future technology you should consider a LED HDTV. However I wouldn't have bought a real cheap one. You should be prepared to pay considerable more for a descent quality LED HDTV, to get equal quality to LCD. This is because the technology is newer than LCD, and therefore the products are more expensive. Samsung has several 55 inch LED HDTV models, both the 7000 and 8000 series. The Samsung UN55B8000 is getting very good reviews, and is probably one of the best LED HDTV's right now. If you can't afford the UN55B8000, I would recommend buying a LCD HDTV instead of a cheaper LED HDTV.

What is a good 32" LCD HDTV?

Q. I am looking for a good quality 32" LCD TV. I would like it to be reasonably priced and include at least 1 HDMI input, 2 component inputs, and at least 1 composite input. It must be an HDTV. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A. Right now Olevia has a special running on the west coast on a 32"
levia 432V 32" Widescreen LCD HDTV/Monitor Combo at office depot
for $700.00 a good price for the system
HDMI compatible and i like the screen resolution
I use it for regular television, Xbox and can be utilized as a computer monitor as well.
so far so good i recommend it. enjoy!

What is the best 32 Inch LCD HDTV?
Q.

A. Panasonic VIERA C12 Series TC-L32C12 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV is one of the best TVs under $500 you can find on the market. I did a LOT of research looking for what I wanted in a TV. I've been wanting a nice flatscreen for a while now. I've been holding out as and quality has been improving while prices have been dropping. I finally settled on this Panasonic.

I wanted a TV for primarily movies (Hi Def and standard or upconverted Def) and video games (Hi Def and standard def). I do not have a cable subscription and am not interested in HD cable services. That being said, I also wanted a TV that would double as a humongous PC monitor. I'm pleased to say this TV meets and exceeds my needs so far. It's a big upgrade from the 20 inch tube TV I was using before the VIERA.

The LCD TV is nice looking and has a variety of cable inputs. Both the remote and menu systems are top-notch and useful. This TV puts out true 720p resolution and has 4:3 ratio (standard, full-frame) and zoom scaling as well. For TVs 32 inches and under, 1080p (while nice) is not necessary, as you'd be hard pressed to notice a dramatic difference with your HDMI or component sources. The picture is super sharp, and the image control available with this TV is pretty impressive. You can really play with the picture and color. I was laughing at the ability to essentially reproduce that 60's Technicolor supersaturation if you want. It really brings films to life. You can make up to 4 preset color choices, too- One for films, one for sports or live action TV, one for video games, one for kid's cartoons, etc, etc.
I would highly recommend this TV.

Should I get an LCD or LED-LCD TV?

Q. Hey everybody, I'm looking for a new TV in the 300-350 dollar price range (size between 24 and 39 inches). I'm not very tech-savvy, so I thought I'd ask for some input on this. Just looking at BestBuy's website I see that there are LED LCDs now (probably have been around for awhile, but like I said I don't really keep up with this stuff). I've looked around online, and it seems to be that the LEDs are easier on the power bill, which is a big plus for me since I'm a grad student. But they are a little more expensive (though if it will pay off in the utilities as time goes on, I don't mind paying a little more). I'm just wondering if someone can tell me about any major differences quality-wise? Does one have a crisper, cleaner picture than the other, brighter colors, deeper blacks, all that good stuff? If someone wouldn't mind telling me about their experiences and opinions I'd appreciate it! Thanks in advance.

A. Plasma has the best picture overall with deepest blacks and many specs, with great deals too. Also the best TV's of 2011 in top 5 are plasma on Cnet. But it looks like you want a small HDTV and plasma's smallest size is 42 inches. I recommend just go with LCD because LED is the same thing. Go to best buy and I think LG has 32 inch 720p LCD's for 300. I recommend 720p because at 32 inches you won't notice a benefit for 1080p. I have a 46 inch plasma at 1080p which looks amazing and even the 720p channels that come through satellite look amazing. LG is a good LCD brand and will save you $$.

Which HDTV is Better?

Which of these is better. Im going to use it mostly for gaming and tv, with the occasional movie. 3D would be cool but its not that important. I will be sitting far enough away that 1080p wont really matter. I was looking at them at best buy and the plasma looked a little dark but it was pretty bright in the store. Also, if you have another TV to recommend let me know.
32" - 45"
$400 - $650 (maybe a little more depending on the tv)

A. The Song LCD. Plasma has lots of issues, like leaving a trail when something or someone moves on the Tv, which is typically called "ghosting". Also Plasma screens sometimes "burnout". Though, Plasma has a better color spectrum. But the best type is an LED.
Also, there are only so many games you can play in 3D and you have to buy glasses which I've seen for an extra $200.

Look up "squidoo best HDTVs of 2011" in google, and you'll find all the info you need.

I'm also looking at getting a new Tv, so I know a lot of good ones, but what's your exact price range. I know around $550 but is $580 the max? Also how many inches do you want? Add your price range and inch range and I'll add some recommendations.

Ok, so I'll just write the info for each tv. I would put the url since I'm still in the process of fixing my computer, so I have to use my iPod and PS3 to go on the internet.

whats a good flatscreen tv to get?

Q. i'm shopping for a tv that is size 40-46,i need one that has at least one composite connection or svideo.budget is about 900.also need one thats not too bright,i heard plasmas are low on brightness,is that true?
how is the picture quailty on the panasonic with roku basic sd stuff and will composite devices look pretty good? or will only blu ray stuff look good on this set? i was thinking of getting a 42 or 46.i have xbox1(component) sattlite(composite) netflix on xbox360 but will consider roku2 to save on energy bills.

A. I recommend you go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs, along with the pro and con of each technology. You will notice that there are more Panasonic Plasma tv being recommended than any type of tv from other manufacturer. In 2010 Home Theater Magazine named the Panasonic Plasma tv model VT25 as the best tv, while 2009 belong to Pioneer Elite KURO also a Plasma tv. Keep in mind that Plasma tv starts at the 42" and larger, so if you want a smaller tv you have to get an LCD. Consider this also, you can not see the difference between 720P and 1080P in screen smaller than a 46". All LCD and LED tv have problems with blur motion when watching fast action sports and playing video games. To reduce the blur motion you need the faster refresh rate of 120HZ or 240HZ which also raises the price of the tv. If you read yahoo questions, you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from those bargain price tv. Hope this will help you out.

Should i get the Vizio 32" Class 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV Bundle package at Walmart?

Q. I am pondering on getting the Vizio 32" Class 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV Bundle package with the free home theater system and HDMI cable. I am a new tv buyer and see this as a good deal. What should i look for? I got a ps3 and i want something that is durable and has good quality.

A. Vizio is local trademark . TV only sold in USA/CANADA.
Vizio USA do not manufactures any things. all TV " handle " by Taiwan Amtrans ,products designs and made in China. use low prices parts.
http://www.forbes.com/2009/05/21/taiwan-vizio-amtran-exports-lcd-tv.html?feed=rss_business
Vizio is " cheap ". but subject to reliable. try to avoid Vizio.
you may not need a quality. but keeps send TV for repair is free during warranty ,but cost shipping / transport charge , may with out TV from 1 to 4 weeks.this may make you mad !!
for games . PS 3 , better go for 120 HZ model . is cover.hide some " motion blur ". standard 60 HZ model , you will uncomfortable to the " motion blur ".
what is " motion blur " ? look at the ball .

you don't need a 1080 P model for an 32 inc TV. you eye will not get the difference between 720 P and 1080 P in screen size below 40 inc TV. however , TV maker take 1080 P as Hi End model. such model always better pictures quality than 720 HD model. ( you paid for it )
If you BUDGET allow. Samsung 32 inc 1080 P 120 hz model will be quality and reliable . Samsung manufactures TV by OWN from End to End. is reliable products. even 32 inc from Samsung China or Samsung Malaysia , but is all by Samsung. under Samsung HQ quality control . ( Vizio is all don by other . quality is beyond control ) !!
If because of BUDGET. Vizio is " CHEAP ' .just take some RISK !!
Please , visit show room to view the real unit., watch for sport movies. if you eye cant accept the " motion blur " , standard 60 HZ model is not for you. ( some people eye okay for that ).

Can a Wii ruin a 32 inch Sony Bravia L series LCD HDTV's picture quality?
Q. I know that an Xbox 360 and a PS3 are made for HDTVs, but what about a wii? I have a wii and am about to move in a 32 inch Sony Bravia TV into my room, but my uncle says a wii willl ruin it's picture quality. Please I really need help! Best answer to anyone with expierience!

A. I've heard rumours that leaving a picture on an LCD for too long burns it in, but I don't personally believe that. Games consoles are not designed to ruin picture quality on TVs. If they were, do you think they'd be half as popular?

What Tv should i buy?

Q. Hi I am looking to buy a new tv, but I am having some problems. I want to buy the panasonic vt60 for the colors, motion, and black levels. The only thing keeping me from buying it is the line bleed, fan noise, and green dithering that show up in the picture where it isn't completely dark. I bought the panasonic gt50 last year and loved it but it had the problems I listed. The green dithering would have been acceptable if it couldn't have been seen from a normal viewing distance while in THX mode. Anyways now i am considering led TVs and was wondering what 2013 led tv can best compete with plasma? Right now I am considering the Sony 900a model. Is there a better 1080p Led tv than the sony?

A. The Samsung 8000 series would be a much better tv than the Sony. Pesonally, I have nevver owned a Sony product that have last more than 3 years. Purchased the first DVD players model 7000 and the 7700 both are the price of $1,100 each and the first HDTV 34" CRT and they all did not last more than e years. The new Panasonic ZT series Plasma tv is reviewed by Home Theater Magazine. This is compared to the old Pioneer Elite KURO tv. I would still recommend the Panasonic. I do use 4 Panasonic Plasma tv along with 3 LCD tv and never had one issue. Hope this will help you out.

What are the best settings for the 47-inch Vizio SV471XVT 240 HZ LCD HDTV?

Q.

A. Get a HD TV calibrator. Some DVDs and many Blu-Rays come with free calibrators on them. Those can be a free way to get a great picture out of your TV.

Also, I would recommend turning off all forms of Sharpness. You can't make a 1080p image sharper and it will create many artificial edges that can distort the image. It may take some getting used to, but you'll be seeing a sharper image without sharpness settings turned on.
