A. Well, you know you want to go with an HDTV, thats good. The question is what technology you want to go with. There is rear projection, DLP, LCD and Plasma. You said you were playing games, so image burn-in is probably going to be a big problem for you. You will have a score or a map in the corner of your screen constantly, which isn't good for some types of tv's.

Rear projection is the older style tv's that are normally 2-3 feet deep and sit on the floor. They are inexpensive, but HUGE.

DLP is a newer technology. It isn't quite as large as a rear projection tv, but they surely aren't flat. The nice thing about a DLP is, it is immune to image burn in.

LCD is also a newer technology. It is a flat panel technology that is wall mountable. It is just about as prone to burn in as your average CRT.

Plasma is also a newer technology that has come a long way. Plasma's are also wall mountable. The problem with plasma is it is extremely prone to burn in. If you are going to be playing games on it a lot, that isn't good for a plasma. Are you constantly going to be playing games for 6 hours at a time, or do you play it for an hour at a time then go do something else? That is a decision you have to make.

If you are looking to go very inexpensive, go with a rear projection. If you don't need to wall mount it, but want a bit of a better picture, go with DLP. If you want to wall mount it and have some more money, go with a LCD or Plasma. Just make sure you realize that a plasma is prone to burn-in.

What should I do concerning audio with two televisions in my living room?

Q. My roommate has a 32 inch LCD HDTV and I have a 37 inch LCD HDTV. We'd like to put both of them in the living room but we're not completely sure what to do about audio when we're watching different things. Does anybody have any suggestions? Please don't put something like only use one TV. Those answers don't help.

What size tv would be best for veiwing at 11 feet away?

Q. I'm trying to decide whether to get a 46 or 52 inch LCD tv. Those are the sizes because the model i am looking at does not have a 50 inch. A. You don't need a power supply, just a power cord. See the first link below for one of the most common universal power cords--used extensively in many types of electronic equipment. If the jack on the back of the Seiki looks like it will match the female connector on that cord, you can buy one at any local TV store, Radio Shack, on-line, etc.

If that's not it, look for a match to your set's power connector at the second link. If they don't have it, it's probably not to be found.

How do I play my ps2 on my 52-inch Samsung LCD TV?

Q. I hoooked up my ps2 to my 52-inch Samsung LCD TV and the picture is blurry? like I'm talkin very blurry, is there some kind of setting I have to use to play ps2 clearly on the 52-inch?

A. Might be that your playing an old game with standard resolution and/or you have it connected to your TV with a mediocre (standard) video cable. You can use component cables; Sony has one for the PS2 and there is also 3rd party ones but obviously you want to go with the Sony brand. Some games support progressive scan (with component cables) and they look better than regular definition games played on a composite and/or S-video. Also some HDTV's (like LCD's and Plasma's) make your PS2 games (that do not support progressive scan) look worse than a regular TV, specially if they're bigger than 42in. This also happens with (most) regular standard/non digital channel programing (though HD channels obviously look great -also with component or HDMI cables hooked up) . DLP HDTV's don't suffer from this problem(s) but is an older, less popular technology because most DLP TV's (if not al)l are not flat (body wise not screen wise) and therefor bulkier (not to mention a lot more heavier) and consume more space and energy.
Like I said try component video cables (they have a green, blue, red, white and red connection tip) they improve the picture quality and are built for HDTV's and forget those standard composite cables (with the yellow, white and red tips) since these cables video input/output was meant for standard (non HD) TV's.

A. It's probably a rip off...I own 3, have never had them calibrated and they are just fine. I suggest you just do a search online.....there are many places that will show you how for free, but probably not necessary.

Keep in mind, there is VERY low profit margins in TV's...they make their money selling HDMI cables for $100 and calibration plans.

A. It is definitely something i wish I could afford...The only problem I see here is that the power supply might not be enough for both those video cards. The 680 needs at least 550w and the 640 needs at 350w so, you need a better power supply for it. Other than that..it's a really good computer with tons of stuff.

What would be an average sizes plasma or lcd tv for a master bedroom?

Q. We are looking at either 32, 37 or 42 inch plasma or lcd tv's. Normally we watch tv at night so which type of tv would have a better picture quality at night. Can anyone recommend some good models?

A. Plasmas are better for night viewing than LCDs.

The size to get depends on the viewing distance and the programming types. If you are going to be watching mostly HDTV programming, you can be as close as 2 times the screen measurement away (so, for a 42-incher, you don't want it any closer than 7 feet away from your viewing spot).

If you watch a lot of standard definition, you probably want a smaller screen or want to have it a bit further back, so that it is at least 2.5 or 3 times the screen dimension away.

Plasmas generally don't come any smaller than 42 inches. If 42 inches is right for you, among the top choices among reviewers right now are the Samsung HPT4254 / 4264 and the Panasonic 42px75 / px77. Check reviews at CNET below.

Q. I got it buy I'm having trouble finding any reviews of it. There's one guy on Amazon that hates it. And the few consumer review sites I found said that for the money it's a good buy for a mid level TV. For $798, I feel I got a good deal, but I'd like to find out what others think, and where they keep their TV settings at.

A. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this tv isnt very good. this is not a mid level hdtv is is a low level hdtv. a good deal for the money? yes. is it worth it? no. polaroid make good cameras. thats it. their tvs are crap. they are cheap, have poor picture quality and use very cheap parts. also there is no fixing these tvs. they are a throw away tv. so i hope you pray this tv doesnt have any problems. you could have spent as little as an extra $200 and gotten a great name brand tv with much better quality and reliability. i personally think you should return it and get a better name brand one. believe me you really get what you pay for in hdtvs. get a brand like panasonic, sony, toshiba, sharp, samsung, lg. yes yes i know they are more money, but it will be well worthit. these are tier 1 or high level of quality tvs. you can even get a tier 2 or mid level hdtv like an olevia that will be a heck of alot better than that polaroid. im not trying to be rude at all. this is just my experience talking. so good luck.

A. Well, you know you want to go with an HDTV, thats good. The question is what technology you want to go with. There is rear projection, DLP, LCD and Plasma. You said you were playing games, so image burn-in is probably going to be a big problem for you. You will have a score or a map in the corner of your screen constantly, which isn't good for some types of tv's.

Rear projection is the older style tv's that are normally 2-3 feet deep and sit on the floor. They are inexpensive, but HUGE.

DLP is a newer technology. It isn't quite as large as a rear projection tv, but they surely aren't flat. The nice thing about a DLP is, it is immune to image burn in.

LCD is also a newer technology. It is a flat panel technology that is wall mountable. It is just about as prone to burn in as your average CRT.

Plasma is also a newer technology that has come a long way. Plasma's are also wall mountable. The problem with plasma is it is extremely prone to burn in. If you are going to be playing games on it a lot, that isn't good for a plasma. Are you constantly going to be playing games for 6 hours at a time, or do you play it for an hour at a time then go do something else? That is a decision you have to make.

If you are looking to go very inexpensive, go with a rear projection. If you don't need to wall mount it, but want a bit of a better picture, go with DLP. If you want to wall mount it and have some more money, go with a LCD or Plasma. Just make sure you realize that a plasma is prone to burn-in.

A. Just use wires. It is like hooking up any other TV that is not on the wall. You can let them hang down and have a very unprofessional look or you can buy wires that are rated to go in the wall (make sure they are to avoid any code violations or insurance issues later) and then it will look more professional. Either way, you cannot run the power cord through the wall by law. Your best bet is, depending on the type of surround sound receiver you have, is to run all the wires into that and then 1 wire out to the TV.

Lcd tv or projector for movie room What speakers to purchase for surround sound?

Q. I just built a 10'-6"x18' move room. Now i have to decide a 65" lcd or install a projector on the ceiling. Also what spekers do i purchase for surround sound. I have a harmon kardon reciver already and a subwoofer.

A. This Mitsubishi WD-73737 73-Inch 1080p 120Hz Home Theater DLP HDTV is great. I was looking at LCD and DLP TVs, and the DLP offer bigger screens and the same great picture at a lower price. HDTV, Blu-Ray, DVD, etc all look great on this TV. 1080p resolution is amazing, I have an older 52 inch HDTV, which displays 1080i and this DLP looks 10 times better.

Out of the box, this DLP is very color rich, especially in the reds and yellows, which I easily corrected using the PerfectPicture Menu. I toned down all colors by 5 and the red and yellow by 10. This made the picture look a lot better.

I am using various types of connections on it (HDMI, Component, and Composite) and each input delivers a great picture. I use the HDMI to connect my PS3, component cables connect my Dish receiver and DVD player, and the composite cable connects the Wii. This TV automatically recognizes when devices are connected and allows you to name each connnection.

You can't go wrong with this one.

How to get the best picture out of my 120hz LCD?

Q. I bought a 46in Samsung 120hz LCD(LED backlit) HDTV, so far at times it does seem better but there is still ghosting with the black and dark colors, the faster the picture, the more distorted and blurry it gets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The model number is LN46C650L1F.

A. Sadly - motion blur is inherent in LCD panels with fast moving objects. The "120 hz refresh" cuts the problem in half compared to a standard 60 hz refresh model, but it is still there.

Some models have software 'enhancements' that try to smooth out the motion blur, but this sometimes causes other artifacts.

All new televisions should have their Brightness, contrast and color set to sane levels. (These are set at the factory to ultra-bright so the unit will be eye-catching if used as a demo on a bright display floor).

Get a Pixar movie and go to the disk setup menu. You will find test-patterns and instructions for properly setting the brightness, contrast and color.

This will probably reduce how noticeable the ghosting and blur are, but it will not solve it.

Which TV brand is better-Vizio, or Best Buy's in-house brand, Insignia?

Q. Looking to purchase a new 32 inch HDTV for my bedroom, but avoid breaking the bank.

A. It is hard to compare brands, but you say that you want a 32 inch TV, so I'll go off of that;

Vizio's 32" class is 720p (HD compatible), has 60Hz refresh rate(decent), and costs $378. That is a very good price. (http://www.walmart.com/Vizio-32-LCD-HDTV-VW32L/ip/5623472)

Insignia's 32" class has 1080p (HD compatible,which displays a more even arrangement of the pixels, therefore a nicer picture than the Vizio's 720p), it has 60Hz refresh rate but is $399. So, for 21 more dollars you can get a nicer picture.

To conclude, I would say that Insignia's 32" class is a better TV, and if you buy it from BestBuy, they will deliver, install, and remove an old TV for a low fee. =) Theres my two cents! I hope it helped.

If I could make suggestion, however, I would say that a Sharp or a Samsung would be best. I have a 42' Sharp and a 52" Samsung, both are HD and they are awesome. Most reviews for the TVs (yes, I am going on reviews, since I've never had a Vizio or a Insignia sadly) that you want say that they break down often. So, if you do choose to go with the Insignia or the Vizio, I suggest that you get a warranty. Although expensive, they wil help you significantly.

A. I saw this too, and was wondering the same thing. But it says a minimum of 10 per store. So they could only have 10 at the store you go to. So i highly doubt you'd even get it. I remember last year me and my dad went for a tv, and we were close to the front of the line, and they were gone before he even got to the tv section. And they had 50 in stock. Also i think the tv's a cheap version. With probably okay picture and okay quality. Probably not that great. Because why would they sell it so cheap if it was a good tv? They just want to get rid of it because they know they couldnt sell it otherwise.
