Is Toshiba a good brand of HD TV?

Q. I am looking at a 42'' Toshiba 1080p 60 hertz Hdtv. How is the picture quality? I know the price is not too expensive. I really want to know if the picture quality is good.

A. One of the best in 42 inc HD. as Toshiba made TV for 40 years. as a International brand ( not only TV )., Toshiba Products always in Quality + reliable, For big screen 40 inc above LCD TV. Toshiba use very good Quality LCD Display panel that made by AFPD, a joint venture LCD display panel manufactures between Panasonic and Toshiba in Singapore. Toshiba prices always not so high compare to other worldwide brand . ( of course, those Local in-house brand is much cheaper ). but pictures Quality and Audio always International Standard. is can be same class as Sony.* sometimes Sony just over prices * Samsung.Sharp.Philips .( compare to 1080 P 60 HZ model ) Go for it enjoy Quality pictures and sound from Toshiba 42 full HD TV. *** But never buy any small screen 26 and below LCD from Toshiba, those tv is OEM made by Orion Electric in Thailand/China * only BIG screen is 100 % design and made by Toshiba own factory )

Which TV brand is better-Vizio, or Best Buy's in-house brand, Insignia?
Q. Looking to purchase a new 32 inch HDTV for my bedroom, but avoid breaking the bank.

A. It is hard to compare brands, but you say that you want a 32 inch TV, so I'll go off of that;

Vizio's 32" class is 720p (HD compatible), has 60Hz refresh rate(decent), and costs $378. That is a very good price. (http://www.walmart.com/Vizio-32-LCD-HDTV-VW32L/ip/5623472)

Insignia's 32" class has 1080p (HD compatible, which displays a more even arrangement of the pixels, therefore a nicer picture than the Vizio's 720p), it has 60Hz refresh rate but is $399. So, for 21 more dollars you can get a nicer picture.

To conclude, I would say that Insignia's 32" class is a better TV, and if you buy it from BestBuy, they will deliver, install, and remove an old TV for a low fee. =) Theres my two cents! I hope it helped.

If I could make suggestion, however, I would say that a Sharp or a Samsung would be best. I have a 42' Sharp and a 52" Samsung, both are HD and they are awesome. Most reviews for the TVs (yes, I am going on reviews, since I've never had a Vizio or a Insignia sadly) that you want say that they break down often. So, if you do choose to go with the Insignia or the Vizio, I suggest that you get a warranty. Although expensive, they wil help you significantly.

I did quite a bit of research, so I hope you will take a few seconds to look at the links below that I referenced =)

And if I can leave you with one of my favorite phrases... You get what you pay for!

Q. My sister in law left a broken Sylvania LC427SSX 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV. I looked online but I can't seem to find any place where I can find just the screen for replacement. Does anyone know where I can buy just the screen or how to fix it?

However , if you known the PARTS COST , you will never want to replace it, and buy an new TV for sure.

will you still want to buy the display panel ?
Sylvania is handle by Funai same as Philips Brand TV sold in USA. the 42 inc display panel is made by Taiwan Che-Mei. if you comfortable with the prices. contact Funai USA.

How to get a better picture quality on a lcd hdtv?
Q. I recently bought a 1080p lcd hdtv, right now im watching tv just through basic cable without a cable box or anything else. But when im watching tv i dont feel the picture quality is very good, it looks somewhat blurry and i just dont feel like im getting what im suppose to. I wasnt really expecting that though it being an HD ready tv and putting out 1080p. Would getting an HD cable box from my cable provider help?

A. The picture looks bad because you are looking at standard-definition channels, not HD channels.

HDTVs usually make standard-def channels look WORSE, not better!

So what you need to do is get some HD channels.

To do that with cable, you probably have to upgrade your cable account to pay extra for HD and get an HD cable box. But before you do that, you could try without a box, and have your TV scan for new channels (tell it you have digital cable when you start the scan), and it may pick up a few channels (mostly major networks) in HD. If you are happy with just those in HD, you might not need to pay extra for HD.

Q. I used the cleaning wipes that came with my LCD LED HD 3D monitor but it keeps leaving big streaks. i used it on my LCD HDTV and it did the same. So Please tell me how, and what do you clean them with, without leaving ugly streaks?

Both are Samsung brands if that matters.

A. Use Microfiber.

Don't press hard. This can cause damage.

Possible use of 50/50 distilled water and vinegar.

Is there really a big difference between 3d movies & standard movies?
Q. One tv is a VIZIO 47" Class Theater 3D LCD HDTV with VIZIO Internet Apps 1080p 120Hz, E3D470VX if that makes a difference

A. Only a little bit, I personally like regular movies better because the 3D effects & the glasses get really annoying. If you are deciding to go to a 3D or a regular movie, I would go to the regular. The 3D is a huge waste of money.

What is the best HDTV of 2012 so far?
Q. Please clarify in each HDTV's respective category.

-Plasma TV
-LED TV
-LCD TV
-Smart TV
-TVs to come
-Best Design for a TV (Panel type is irrelevant)

Please provide detailed explanations.

A. I bought my LG 47 inch cinema 3D smart TV some weeks back. For me, I was considering attributes like price, design, picture quality and accurate colour to give the best credit for my TV. I guess other people may have a different opinion and may select a tv that may be different from mind but I prefer passive sets period.

Does anybody know when HDTVs are going to fall in price again?
Q. Specifically, I'm looking to get a 52"-60" HDTV LCD and I was just wondering if I should wait. I read in a recent consumer report that the prices may decline again this fall but haven't heard anything else since. Can anyone validate this or possibly shed a little light on the subject? Thanks!

A. TVs actually move thru different price levels as they get older.
New technology TVs are of course....EXPENSIVE.
4 year old TV technology is about $1000.....

Yes they do decline during WINTER....look for a price drop in December, and maybe January....

I want to buy a new tv for my room what should I buy?

Q. My old jvc television is a normal 24in. I am in the market for a new flat screen wide screen 24in or 26in LCD HDTV for my room. I'm not sure what brand is best and I'm looking for something cheap. I found a tv with these specs for 350 from Olevia. Should I buy this television or is there something better? Not looking to spend more than 450. I don't buy for the brand name I buy for the functionality and reliability.

A. If you want to replace a 24" 4:3 aspect ratio TV with a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio TV, then in order for the height of the new set to be the same as the old, you'll have to get a 29" set. The sets are measured diagonally. So a widescreen set with the same diagonal size as a standard set will have a much smaller picture. As far as Olevia is concerned, the latest consumers reports has Olevia generally ranked highest among the other second tier sets. Regarding warranty, see the attached comparing various brands warranty and service.

How close can my LCD HDTV be to my large home stereo speakers?
Q. I have a rather small living room and I am wondering how close my LCD HDTV can be to my large home stereo speakers. When I move our older (non HD) TV too close (about 12") to our home stereo speakers the screen gets green spots and distortion. I am wondering if being too close to a large speaker will hurt or interfere with the HDTV. Thanks!

A. LCD TVs are not affected by magnets. Put the speakers where you want. You only have to worry about magnetic fields with CRT (Picture Tube) TVs.

Q. I'm afraid they might announce something new like Wii2

One more question, can the Wii connect to Lcd HDTV? I heard that the wii is not support HDTV.

A. ok, the "WII HD" right now is slated for 2011 and GameStop is going to do the hole trade in your old one for like $100 of thing again so i say you should buy one now, and from what i understand is that the Wii can connect to HDTV but there wont be any difference because it only supports like 480p but they sell third party wires for Wii to HDTV

What kind of tv is better for watching tv and playing games?

Q. I'm looking to buy a tv soon, and I was wondering what kind is the best for watching tv and playing games.

Plasma
LED
LCD
DLP

Also when you specify what type, specify what brand you'd recommend.
Price = 1000 or less U.S. $
I was referring to DLP Tvs, not projectors.

A. LED would be best choice. They have great picture quality like plasma but less problem, no burn-in like LCD. For under $1000 I would recommend LG 42LE5400 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV with Internet Applications

What is the difference between LCD, LED, and Plasma screen televisions.?

Q. I'm planning on buying a new TV soon, but there are so many display options. I don't know too much about the difference in LCD, LED, and Plasma. I know that one of them has like a light shining off the back or the side of the TV and thats the one that I don't want. Can somebody help me with this information.

A. For many years, the CRT technology was the dominant technology in television sets. However, in the past few years, there has been a significant improvement in the technology, which has seen the introduction of LCD, plasma and LED televisions. Each of these new technologies has its strong points in the method that it displays images, among other features. The features for each type of these technologies are as below.

As with most electronics, it is recommended that you first do your research before choosing a HDTV. By doing research, you can ensure you choose a quality television that you will enjoy. There are many different sites that post reviews, and reviewing what other customers have said is really important. A good example of a page is one that displays Panasonic Viera TC-P54G25 reviews. Such sites not only provides expert reviews, but more importantly, also supply customer reviews.

When researching a television, it is also important to look at the differences in the technologies. The next few section outlines the three technologies that you will find in a HDTV.

What is an LCD TV?
The acronym LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. This technology was created to replace the CRT technology. A LCD TV is a significant improvement in the way pictures are displayed due to the mode of display involved.

LCD technology uses two major components to display, namely; Cold Cathode Florescent Lamps or CCFLs and molecules of liquid crystals. The CCFLs are used to illuminate the liquid molecules with white light, and as the light passes through, an image is created.

A LCD TV has the following advantages over a CRT TV; flat and much lighter, a higher resolution, wider viewing angle of up to 175 degrees, lower power consumption, resistant to ‘burn in’ due to static images, and are ideal for naturally lit environments. However, there are some disadvantages to this technology such as a low contrast ratio and inability to achieve true black picture quality.

What is a Plasma TV
The shortcomings of LCD TV led to the development of Plasma Display Panel, otherwise known as a plasma TV. With this technology, images are created from gases containing neon and xenon atoms.

Plasma TV technology boasts of a rich variation of colors, due to an advanced color generation feature, that is able to generate true black picture quality.

The viewing distance and angles are also wider, ranging from 160 and up to 180 degrees, which is more than what can be achieved with a LCD TV. A plasma TV also has a higher lifespan than LCD TV. The downside of this technology is that the viewing capability, especially the brightness is greatly diminished in poor lighting conditions, lower resolution, and an irreparable back light.

How to get the best picture out of my 120hz LCD?
Q. I bought a 46in Samsung 120hz LCD(LED backlit) HDTV, so far at times it does seem better but there is still ghosting with the black and dark colors, the faster the picture, the more distorted and blurry it gets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The model number is LN46C650L1F.

A. Sadly - motion blur is inherent in LCD panels with fast moving objects. The "120 hz refresh" cuts the problem in half compared to a standard 60 hz refresh model, but it is still there.

Some models have software 'enhancements' that try to smooth out the motion blur, but this sometimes causes other artifacts.

All new televisions should have their Brightness, contrast and color set to sane levels. (These are set at the factory to ultra-bright so the unit will be eye-catching if used as a demo on a bright display floor).

Get a Pixar movie and go to the disk setup menu. You will find test-patterns and instructions for properly setting the brightness, contrast and color.

This will probably reduce how noticeable the ghosting and blur are, but it will not solve it.

Would the PS3 look great in a 32 inch LCD HDTV with a resolution of 720p?

Q. The reason I'm asking this, is because I'm going to get a 32 inch LCD HDTV, with a resolution of 720p, which is a Panasonic Viera. Is 720p, considered to be HD? Or, does it only apply to 1080p? Thanks.

Q. I have 32 inch LCD HDTV with a broken screen. I need a replacement screen for it new or refurbished, where can I get on ? Didn't find it on eBay or any other websites that I know of. HELP!

I want to know by Feb. 17, 2009 will my tv still work.?

Q. I have this kind of tv Sony FDL-250T Watchman Portable Color LCD TV, Silver.

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-FDL-250T-Watchman-Portable-Silver/dp/B00005I9QP

A. Most likely not in the U.S. That model has been around for many years and probably does not have the ATSC tuner that will be necessary after Feb. 17th.

That's only a guess from looking at the specs I could find on-line, but the fact that it has reviews dated in 2001 makes me think it's not going to survive the digital transition.

It would be usable in Canada, since they're not doing the digital conversion until August 2011.

Samsung midrange 2011 LED TVs vs Panasonic midrange 2011 Plasma TVs ?
Q.

A. Panasonic, Plasma HDTVs have the lowest MTBF(mean time between failures). They also are cheaper when we're talking about 42"-46" screens and up vs. LCD screens in this size range.
Off the top of my head, they produce better black levels, color quality, and off-axis viewing.

Checkout this direct link to not just Panasonic plasmas, but also a handful or two of other makers, to eliminate bias towards just Panasonic's lineup of their plasmas.

Q. So here is the deal, I am planning on buying a 32inch lcd hdtv, my budget is between 4-6k. Any suggestinons??? I am sick of searching for reviewss help pleasee!!

How much is a screen and LCD for a TV?
Q. I bought a 42" Vizio 1080P LCD HDTV for $750 about a year and a half ago with a 2 year service plan. The TV fell off the stand and broke the screen and LCD display. Apparently the damn 2 year service plan won't cover falls even though the employee told me it would. (If I would've known that I wouldn't have bought the service plan.) Anyway, I can't see anything on the screen except for the huge spots from the damaged LCD. I hear it's usually cheaper to buy a new TV than to fix them but I was just wondering how much it would cost anyway, just in case. (You never know until you ask!) Any information you guys can give would be very helpful.

A. Currently, you can get a Vizio'' 1080 LCD HDTV with 3D for as low as $523 at amazon. This is an extremely great deal for a TV with 3D technology as well as two 3D glasses also comes with it. This TV also has built in Wi-Fi. I personally think its better if you buy a new TV rather than fixing it as the repair cost might be able to get you even a newer version of the HDTV you are fixing.

What is the Best HDTV and best place to buy it?

Q. I want to buy an HDTV. I would like one that is in the 46 inch or 47 inch range. What are the best HDTV's and where are the smartest places to buy them? Please help me because I am a terrible shopper! Thank You!

A. It depends on your situation.

Are you going to be watching the tv in a high level light area? If so, you'll want a LCD HDTV.
Vizios are pretty good LCD's, as well are Sony's

Is it going to be a dark room? If so, you'll want a Plasma HDTV.
For Plasmas, I'd recommended Panasonic or Samsung.

If you really want, THE BEST available. Get Samsungs LED TV

Is it worth the extra money to get an LED-LCD TV vs standard LCD?
Q. Our old 32" TV died and its time to get a nice HDTV. I've ruled out plasma, so its down to LCD. The newer LED-LCD seem to have a more crisp picture and better contrast than the standard LED. In partcicular I like the Samsung. But a 47" LED-LCD is almost $500 more than the standard LCD. Is it worth the extra?

A. I own the Samsung 46 inch LED 8000 series. I was hesitant to purchase this TV due to the price, but ultimately i decided to get it for the following reasons.

1.) Better contrast and color accuracy
2.) Better viewing angle
3.) Displays 240 Hz, auto motion plus.
4.) Uses less energy
5.) Super thin, looks fantastic

After owning this TV for 4 months now, I have to say I love it. It was well worth the extra cost. However, there are a few nit picking things I didn't like about it.

1.) The remote is enormous. Also, hard to take out and switch the batteries in the remote.
2.) HDMI inputs ports requires cables to be connected sideways at the panel’s rear edge. So your cables stick out from the side, looks like the TV is on life support.
3.) There is a bright blue glowing light on the bottom of the set. You have the option of turning if off, but it still blinks on and off briefly if you change the channel or volume.

Can my lcd hdtv survive out in my shed over the winter?

Q. I want to put my lcd hdtv out in my shed. I want to watch tv out there when i work on my snowmobile, but im not sure if the tv will be ok if left out there. I will heat the shed when out there, but not when im out there. The shed is fully weaterproof, but will still reach extreamly low temperatures.

A. The lowest of the low temperatures I saw (and this is brand, model and size dependent) was -22 degrees Fahrenheit. I wouldn't do it! Put a CRT out there, they can handle it, and if it dies....oh well. Don't hurt your HDTV if it means that much to you!

What all does a 2 year service plan warranty cover on a TV?
Q. I bought a 42" Vizio LCD 1080P HDTV brand new about a year and a half ago at WalMart. It was working fine until it fell over because my landlord hasn't fixed the damn crooked floors. From the looks of it, the screen and the LCD are broke. I purchased the 2 year service plan with it but I lost the receipt. Is there anything at all that I can do or am I just SOL?????

A. Physical damage is not covered under warranty any where in the world.

Ask your landlord for compensation. The amount you would pay to replace the 42" screen component you will get a brand new TV at a price lower than that.

What is the best LED television for people on a budget?
Q. I am moving in with my best friend who only has an old, 42 inch television. We are looking for a flat screen tv, preferably LED, must be in the forty inch range and have 1080 resolution. I have found a few tvs like this in the four hundred dollar range, but I know nothing about tvs. What is the best tv fitting these parameters in the four hundred dollar range?

A. LG 42LV3500 42-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LED HDTV is replacing my LG 37 in LCD television, my 37 inch was working perfectly but decided to up grade to full HD and the LED model, I have to say the picture color and clarity is stunning to me, minor adjustments were to make the auto picture dimming set to medium, and the usual detailing of the picture but I have all my components linked up via HDMI and I am really impressed, one feature I like is the live scan, with this turned on you can operate the television or the blue ray and the TV knows how and what to change to and back to automatically, pretty cool feature In my estimation you can not go wrong with LG its kind of a thing of either you like there products or not, I have several appliances that are LG and have never had an issue with anything, I am expecting many years of fine television viewing.

What is the best HDTV for Xbox 360 that doesn't have a lag?

Q. I am looking to purchase a HDTV for my room probably about 26 or 32 inches and I'm curious what the best one is for gaming with my xbox 360. I would like it to have no lag so i can play games like guitar hero, halo, and call of duty. My price range is about $500 but i might be able to go a little bit higher.

A. Erm.... lag doesn't come from TV's, it comes from your internet connection + console...

Get an LCD HDTV with 1080p. The Samsung 32" Model is the best one.

What Hdtv should I buy for a ps3 and for Comcast digital cable?
Q. I have a ps3 with a hd cord and i want to buy an HDtv for a game room. My price range is up to 450 dollars. I am looking for a 32 to 40 inch. I would like 1080p but i don't know what to get for Hz. Can you tell me what tv to get for a ps3 and comcast digital cable in hd. It will be in my basement.

A. You probably won't be able to notice the difference between 720p and 1080p in that size range. However you will be stuck getting an LCD, so get one with the highest refresh rate possible, especially if you plan on getting one towards the larger end of that spectrum. 120 Hz is much better than 60 Hz when it comes to playing back movies, but such LCDs will still not be perfect in response time; for that, keep your old CRT or get a plasma.
Some good brands of LCD in that range include Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Toshiba, and Sharp.
