Plasma, LED, or LCD???

Q. With the black friday sale around the corner, I see a lot of deals and want the best thing. I heard the Plasma TV is no good and will only last 2 years, same as LED. LCD is best to go (from the rumors I hear) , by your experiance, what is the best way to go?

A. Do not listen to rumors or from people that do not know what they are talking about. I recommended you go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs, along with the pro and con of each technology. If you get a copy of the magazine, it will list tvs that they recommend and have tested. Panasonic has more plasma tv being recommended than any type of tv by any manufacturer in the market today. In November issue of the magazine it name the Panasonic plasma tv model VT25 as the best tv for 2010. If you read yahoo questions, you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from LCD tv and 95% of those are the bargain price tv. You will also see that plasma tv is less expensive that any tv in the market today. Most tv in the market today should last you around 60,000 to 100,000 hours of use. My first plasma tv purchased in 2002, a Pioneer model 4330 a 43" is still working today, while my first LCD tv 32" only lasted 2 years. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.

LCD, LED or Plasma what is better for 3D?
Q. i am buying a 3d TV and want to know what is better LED or Plasma

A. I highly recommend you go online to Home Theater Magazine and read all the reviews on tv, along with the pro and con of each technology. You will notice that Panasonic has more Plasma tv being recommended than any type of tv from other manufacturer. Home Theater Magazine named the Panasonic Plasma tv model/series VT25 as the best tv for 2010, it was also a 3D tv. Hope this will help you out.

Which LCD t.v. would you buy out of this 3 and why?

A. The Panasonic TC-P42U1 is a newer on than the other Panasonic. Vizio is a cheap brand that will not last. Costco also carries the Panasonic brand at the store or online. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with the pro and con of Plasma and LCD tvs. You will notice that Panasonic has a tv recommended in each price category of entry level to the high end. While Sony, Samsung and Toshiba does not (December issue). Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio did not even get mentioned. Plasma is still considered to have the best picture quality of all tvs in the market. If you read yahoo questions you will notice that 95% of tv problems are from off brand tvs. Panasonic also has the best customer service support center. Hope this will help you out.

Do 60hz LCDs lag in sports even on sport mode?
Q. I am going to buy a new tv a sony bravia, it is 60hz lcd and i hear it will lag in sports and games. it has modes for games and sports does this make a difference to the lagging
thnx

A. yes it does lag due to slow response times, you will
see smearing when a football player runs for instance.
The 120hz LCD's or 240hz LCD's cost more but with
the 120hz/240hz the refresh rate is increased and also
you should look for a LCD with a response time of 4ms
or less. A 120hz/240hz LCD with a response time of
4ms or less would be a higher end but will combat and
help reduce a lot of the blur issues that standard LCD's
suffer from. A plasma has 600hz, with 0.001ms response
times and mega contrasts out the box which is why they
are recommended for sports.

I would recommend these TV's if you are on a budget,
I will add 42-50 inch models.

Are the new Samsung LED HDTV's being released this year the same as last years but with internet connectivity?

Q. I compared last years samsung 40 inch led hdtvhttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001UHMV90/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=AC6PKMTT64SLP&v=glance with the newer samsung 40 inch led http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN40C6500-40-Inch-1080p-Black/dp/B0036WT4A6/ref=br_lf_m_1000482211_1_6_ttl?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=electronics&pf_rd_p=665111022&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000482211&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=04YF5NDEZXW1FV4S1AF5 and they appear to be the same to me, only the newer models have internet connections built in to them. I am thinking about getting last years model because i already own a ps3 and computer, which makes internet on tv pointless to me. is that the only major difference between the two? Or could someone who knows more about this subject elaborate to me the BEST choice? Thanks so much for reading.

A. I'm not sure which one would be better, but I would be really careful buying a Samsung LCD HDTV. They have a really bad reputation of suddenly not being able to turn on. I just had this issue a week and half ago. We got our Samsung LCD HDTV from Best Buy only a year and half ago... During the blizzard of 2010, a power outage occurred and my TV just wouldn't turn on anymore. After tons of research online, I found out that Samsung has been having tons of issues with the capacitors going bad very soon... Google "Samsung LCD TV wont turn on" or "Samsung LCD TV clicking." Some people were saying their TV was only 3 months old and it wouldn't turn on anymore... :/

Not saying Samsung is screwed, but it'll give you a big hassle knowing that there's a big chance its going to happen along the future. BTW, I fixed my TV...after tons of research, and being quoted $450 to fix it, I learned how to do it on my own online. all I had to do was open the TV, examine the power supply circuit board, and change out a capacitor.

....it was just a big fat headache though. Take this into consideration before buyin a Samsung please! ..if you know how to solder, this isn't a big deal. I didn't know sh*t about TVs, capacitors, circuit boards, or soldering....

Need help on which LCD TV to buy!?
Q. Alright im looking at 2 deals and am not sure which one would be better any help you TV pros would be able to lend would be greatly appreciated... Im looking at 3 tvs and want to know which tv is the best deal and also if I should jump on the deals or wait till it gets closer to xmas (I looked back on last years black friday deals and didnt see anything special) here are the TVs im considering:

3. Sony Bravia KDL-46W5100 for $800 used from a friend

Best Flat Screen HDTV out there?

Q. I want to buy a HDTV for my basement but i don't know anything about TVs. I'm looking in the range of 45"-55" or any larger size that's a better deal. The TV is mostly going to be used to watch TV and movies, and occasionally some video games. So..
What company is the best?
Should i buy LCD or plasma? Which has better color and resolution?
Also, whats the best surround sound system out there?

Any more information that could help me in choosing would be great.
Thanks!
My price range is between $1000-$2000

A. What's your price range?

Best for plasma: Pioneer
Best for LCD: Samsung

Plasma has better color...resolution is the same (1080p). If you are able to control the lighting in the room where your tv is going to be located (little ambient light from windows), plasma is probably your best bet. If not, I would go with an LCD TV...they are more bright and less affected by glare.

the best surround system is one which you purchase all of the components separately (receiver, speakers, sub-woofer).

EDIT
Given your limited budget, I'd recommend a $1,700 TV and a $300 surround sound package.

Or drop the whole $2,000 on a top of the line 52-inch LCD and wait and save for the home theater.

Best 65" HDTV?

Q. Plasma or LCD
size can vary a little bit
By any company
Price range is 0-$5000
DLP preferable not needed
please add specifics or give site that gives them

A. The best would be the Sony Grand Wega with SXRD technology. Blows DLP in the weeds. No 65", though. There's a 70 and a couple of 60 inchers here:
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=565

Go check one out, I was impressed.

Is this sont bravia LCD hdtv good for the ps3?
Q. will it give me goo benefits plz answer i am in a bit of a hurry i have one week to tell my father wat to get so plz tell me
http://www.sony-mea.com/product_details.asp?InpProdId=6708#

A. The Bravias are nice, but check out some of the new Samsung and Sharp models first. I had a sharp 52" D62 series LCD, and it looked great but had banding problems (dark vertical bars). It wasn't always noticeable, but once you saw them it's all you saw. I understand the new Sharp D92 series have some of the best pictures out there.

I went with new Samsung LN-T 66 series 40" LCD. (65 and 66 series are very silimar, 61 series is the same but with a non-glossy screen). It's 12" smaller but has a much better picture. I couldn't be happier with this set. For the ps3 it looks awesome!

Check out this thread at http://www.avsforum.com Great site that has a lot of great users with better than average opinions.
