A. We've got an LG that we're more than happy with, having all you're wanting, 65" though. CNET has awesome reviews on TVs, as does Consumer Reports. Youtube also has electronic reviewing vieos that are helpful. Google has a wealth of information. I think it's best for you to do your own research, only you know what your specific needs are. Once you've thought about the type you want (plasma, LED, LCD), and once you've decided on whether you want passive or active shutter glasses (active shutters are very expensive, we're extremely pleased with the passives, but the type would depend on what TV you get), then look for consumer reviews. Amazon is one of my favorites.

Lcd 120hz vs Plasma 600hz?

Q. I will play video games 100% or the time on one of these hdtvs. Should I go with a 720p 600hz plasma or a 1080p 120hz Lcd. Both tvs are made by the same company.

A. The above post is incorrect. The screen glare problem has not been solved. Plasma screens are the glossy type. When I went to best buy, i noticed severe reflections from all angles. There is even a video done by CNET on the VT30 plasma TV (last years panasonic flagship model and also the TV in my bedroom) on youtube where you can see significant reflections even in a darker room. Plasma TVs are best suited for rooms with controlled lighting. In those conditions the plasma TV will produce great PQ. Also plasma TVs consume the same amount of power as the older plasma models. You can verify this through many review sites such as FlatpanelsHD or CNET. They measure the total watts consumption per hour and have it down on a chart. If you are adamant on purchasing a plasma, then I would recommend the ST50 by Panasonic. It is their most inexpensive plasma TV and it has gotten great reviews.

Now I recommend to you a LED LCD TV for gaming. My reasons are : if you plan on gaming a long time, your TV will not overheat and burn-in issues are non-existent. (i have seen burn-ins on a panasonic vt30 after only 5 months--even with the screen wipe feature in use). Also 3D gaming is a big plus for me so the comfort of the glasses will become significant enough to where it will affect the type of TV you may purchase. You will be able to play during the day. LED LCD TVs are very bright. Most 2012 LED TVs however have a glossy screen as well. You will get some unwanted reflections. I highly recommend LG's LW series 3D LED TVs (2011 models). They have a matte screen for unparalleled brightness and since its 2012 now, should be priced even lower than its competition.

Q. Bear with me, I know this question probably comes up a lot.

I'm moving cross country in a few weeks, and sadly that means I can't take my current 32 inch LG 1080p TV. It's a 2011 model, and I've loved it since the day I got it.

However, the new LG models at my price point have terrible reviews. I did find a good TV at a good price, a Samsung 720p LED 32 inch.

So my question is, will I be disappointed in picture quality if I go with the 720p? It's a bedroom TV that I use for HD cable, Netflix and watching BluRays and DVDs.

A. Keep in mind that you can not see the difference between 720P and 1080P in screen smaller than a 46". The only source for 1080P is the blu ray disc movies and some video games. 3 years ago I was in the market for a 32" LCD. I went to best Buy Buy website and read all the reviews of customers who purchased a 32". Also look at all the model that each manufacturer have on display at Best Buy, Fry's Electronic and Costco. I found that Panasonic had the best picture quality and viewing angle. I would up purchasing a 37". Last christmas I purchase 2 32" by Panasonic for my kids christmas present. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs, along with the pro and con of each technology. If you pick up a copy of the magazine and close to the back of the magazine it will list the tvs the recommend. You will notice that Panasonic has more tv being recommend than from any other manufacturer. You will not see any LG tv being recommend. If you read all the questions in yahoo all the time, you will notice that 95% of tv problems are from those bargain price tv. Panasonic is the most reliable tv in the market today, followed by Samsung. Hope this will help you out.

Well depends what you will use it for ,if you play a lot of games ,then you want an LCD or LED ,but if you want it for movies and regular TV then a plasma is the way to go ,plasmas have a better picture and deeper colors than the LCD or LED ,but if you are using it for games or as a PC monitor ,it's going to leave burn marks on the screen. Another thing is that LED ,LCD use less power than plasmas, though the new ones are more energy efficient. I would also wait til black friday to make a purchase because that's the time when they're usually cheaper. From what I've seen online and from what people tell me the best plasmas in 3D right now are the Panasonic 2011 and 2012 models ,they have the best picture of all the other plasmas ,even better than the leading Samsung and I think some of them have the bundle that comes with the free glasses. The best LED ,LCD are the ,the Samsung D8000 or the Sony KDLH850 series, because of the picture and features ,there's another also the Sharp Elite pro ,but that's like 4000+ dollars. keep in mind. TV maker will " clear " out old stock - that only for old models.
you will get much lower prices for big screen 720P models and 1080P 60 HZ refresh rate models . because Mose of TV maker discontinue such range and go for 1080P with 120 HZ models.
also 26 inc 720P / 32 inc 720P / 37 inc 720P models. all the Japan TV maker switch to 26 / 32 / 37 inc for only 1080P . you will never get an Sony / Sharp / Panasonic / Toshiba 26/32/37 inc LCD TV in 720P any more after 2011. since this happened 2 year ago in Japan market.

A. The fact is, no one brand can claim to have the best sets in every classification, nor the worst. Any individual model from any manufacturer can be a superior set, and any single sample of any model can be a fine TV, even if that model gets poor reviews.

Your best bet is to review "top ten" lists and similar evaluations that are done by professional labs like Consumer Reports. If you do, you'll find that one manufacturer has the best 50 inch plasma set, another one has the best 50 inch LCD-LED set, and still another one has best 42 inch set, and so on.

I can strongly recommend the March 2011 issue of Consumer Reports for one of the best listings of TVs in all categories that you'll find anywhere, plus basic info on everything related to modern digital television.

I friend just got the Vizio E321MV which is the new 2011 model from Vizio which is a Taiwan USA based company manufacturing televisions the the USA in fact in 2010 Vizio sold more televisions in the USA than any other model and because they are made in the US they are very inexpensive compared to some of th big named Brands.

You would of thought since its a no so well named brand the quality might be crap but the reviews are 4-5 Stars and thats why my friend bought it plus it was a LOT cheaper for the same size with a better known brand.

I have seen it and its pretty impressive for the money and I think he paid around $400

Lcd 120hz vs Plasma 600hz?

Q. I will play video games 100% or the time on one of these hdtvs. Should I go with a 720p 600hz plasma or a 1080p 120hz Lcd. Both tvs are made by the same company.

A. The above post is incorrect. The screen glare problem has not been solved. Plasma screens are the glossy type. When I went to best buy, i noticed severe reflections from all angles. There is even a video done by CNET on the VT30 plasma TV (last years panasonic flagship model and also the TV in my bedroom) on youtube where you can see significant reflections even in a darker room. Plasma TVs are best suited for rooms with controlled lighting. In those conditions the plasma TV will produce great PQ. Also plasma TVs consume the same amount of power as the older plasma models. You can verify this through many review sites such as FlatpanelsHD or CNET. They measure the total watts consumption per hour and have it down on a chart. If you are adamant on purchasing a plasma, then I would recommend the ST50 by Panasonic. It is their most inexpensive plasma TV and it has gotten great reviews.

Now I recommend to you a LED LCD TV for gaming. My reasons are : if you plan on gaming a long time, your TV will not overheat and burn-in issues are non-existent. (i have seen burn-ins on a panasonic vt30 after only 5 months--even with the screen wipe feature in use). Also 3D gaming is a big plus for me so the comfort of the glasses will become significant enough to where it will affect the type of TV you may purchase. You will be able to play during the day. LED LCD TVs are very bright. Most 2012 LED TVs however have a glossy screen as well. You will get some unwanted reflections. I highly recommend LG's LW series 3D LED TVs (2011 models). They have a matte screen for unparalleled brightness and since its 2012 now, should be priced even lower than its competition.

Based on affordability, the current winners are: LCD and Plasma
Just remember, For rooms with natural light, LCD is the best
for darker rooms and better pictures, Plasma still wins.

There are pros and cons to each, you simply have to research and test them at show rooms, or ask friends, family and neighbours.

I personally have great experience with Panasonic and continue to stick to that brand. And what's more, Panasonic is always in the number one, two, or three spot.

A. Most likely not in the U.S. That model has been around for many years and probably does not have the ATSC tuner that will be necessary after Feb. 17th.

That's only a guess from looking at the specs I could find on-line, but the fact that it has reviews dated in 2001 makes me think it's not going to survive the digital transition.

It would be usable in Canada, since they're not doing the digital conversion until August 2011.

A. Panasonic, Plasma HDTVs have the lowest MTBF(mean time between failures). They also are cheaper when we're talking about 42"-46" screens and up vs. LCD screens in this size range.
Off the top of my head, they produce better black levels, color quality, and off-axis viewing.
